State lawmakers are making progress on major school finance reforms, but if we don't act now the expansion of state funded pre-k for currently eligible children from half to full day will drive up the cost of care for infants and toddlers. It's time to contact your State Senator to let them know we must keep licensed child care safe and affordable for all Texas children.

We all want low income children to get a strong start in school, and licensed child care plays a vital role in readying our youngest learners. The enrollment of three and four year old pre-k children keeps our care affordable for families with infants and toddlers.
Under House Bill 3 more than 101,000 low income pre-k children will now be eligible to remain in public schools for the second half of the day. We understand this is a great benefit to many families, and we want to do our part to help.
Lawmakers should include licensed child care in the delivery of state funded pre-k. We can work with local school districts to provide quality state funded pre-k for eligible children, so safe care remains affordable for our youngest learners!
